Spoken English
IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System and is a language test accepted worldwide. The test is intended to evaluate the language skill of candidates who must study or work in an environment where English is the primary language of communication. In Canada, Australia, and other English-speaking countries, IELTS is required for university admission. There are two types in the tests- Academic and General. Academic is for the students and General is for work and permanent residency.
Listening and Speaking remain the same in both the exams but Writing and Reading are a bit different. The three written tests occur on the same day and the speaking exam is either before or after 7 days of Writing, Listening, and Reading.
The test comprises of four sections –
Listening – The test is for 40 minutes and the paper has 4 sections of questions
Reading –The test is for 60 minutes and has comprehension kind of questions
Writing –The tests time is 60 minutes where there are 2 tasks to write
Speaking –This is a one-o-one exam with the interviewer and is usually for 11-14 minutes.
